Introduction

Students will learn the basic word processing skills such as how to open, close, and save documents; how to enhance page appearance by applying text attributes such as bold, italics, and underlining; how to change fonts and font sizes; how to affect the appearance of a document by changing tabs, margins, and line spacing; how to create tables; and how to spell check documents to ensure minimal spelling errors.

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Identify WordPerfect 11 terminology and create, save, and close a document.
  • Open and edit a document by using the mouse, keyboard, and menu choices.
  • Enhance the appearance of a document with fonts and formatting, and work with the Reveal Codes window.
  • Modify text in a document by replacing text, reversing the last change made to a document, and copying or moving text to a new location.
  • Enhance paragraphs by creating and removing paragraph indents, changing the justification of the text, and setting the line spacing for the document.
  • Set tabs by using the Ruler and create, modify, and format a table.
  • Insert and delete manual page breaks and create headers and footers in a document.
  • Check a document for potential errors by using the Spell Checker, identify alternate words by using the Thesaurus, and correct common typing errors by using QuickCorrect.

Intermediate

Students will learn how to modify tables, create styles, use templates, merge documents, sort information, create and edit macros, create newspaper columns and insert graphics, and access the Internet.

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Modify, format, and work with numeric data within a table.
  • Change the appearance of text by using styles.
  • Create, use, and edit templates.
  • Merge a document with data to create multiple variations of the document.
  • Merge a document, envelopes, and mailing labels by using the Outlook 2002 Address Book.
  • Change the order of records by using the Sort feature.
  • Create and run a macro.
  • Format text into newspaper columns and add a graphic to a document.

Advanced

Students will learn how to customize the WordPerfect environment, work with the CorelCentral Address Book, use SpeedLinks and comments, compare documents and work with Corel Versions, create graphics, work with master documents, create a table of contents and an index, and create Web documents.

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Apply WordPerfect settings, create and edit toolbars, and change the environment to simulate Microsoft Word.
  • Create, modify, and use the Outlook Contacts folder.
  • Password protect a document, create and work with SpeedLinks and comments, and compare documents.
  • Work with TextArt, watermarks, layered drawings, and organization charts.
  • Work with a master document and create cross-references, a table of contents, an index, variables, and footnotes and endnotes.
  • Work with WordPerfect legal tools, including pleading documents, Table of Authorities, and publishing documents to EDGAR.
  • Share files by performing round-trip editing of a Microsoft Word document, create a Web document, and publish a PDF file.
